Testing accommodations are available to eligible students who experience barriers to taking exams in the classroom. After you have established testing accommodations with an AEC advisor, meet with your instructors to notify them of your accommodations and to discuss exam arrangements. Many instructors are able to provide testing accommodations by proctoring exams in a nearby office or meeting room. However, if your instructors are unable to make alternative exam arrangements, or you do not feel your needs can be effectively met, you may schedule your exams with AEC. During weeks 1-10, AEC administers exams from 8am-5pm. During finals week, AEC administers exams from 8am-8pm.
Scheduling Exams with AEC
In order for AEC to proctor your exams, you and your instructor are responsible for completing the following steps:
- Student requests accommodations and sends notification letters to their instructors through AEC Connect
- Instructor fills out the Testing Agreement (by following a link in the notification letter), which specifies the parameters by which AEC will proctor the student’s exams
- Student schedules exams through AEC Connect
Click here to learn how to use AEC Connect to request accommodations for each of your classes, send notification letters to your instructors, and schedule exams.
For exams during weeks 1-10, students must schedule exams 7 days in advance. For exams during finals week, all exams must be scheduled by the Friday of week 8. As soon as you have requested accommodations through AEC Connect and your instructors have completed your Testing Agreements, we encourage you to schedule all your exams for the term.
During finals week, exams are scheduled in predetermined blocks in order to maximize space in our testing locations. For students with 50% extended time, exams are scheduled from 8-11am, 11am-2pm, 2-5pm, and 5-8pm. For students with 100% extended time, exams are scheduled from 8am-12pm, 12-4pm, and 4-8pm.
All exam requests for finals week must be submitted by the Friday of week 8.
