The University Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) coordinates a free math and writing lab for all students and provides small group tutoring in some classes for a fee. Referrals for individual tutoring are also provided. In most cases arrangements for individual tutors are made directly by the student with the tutor for meeting times and fees. For more information go to: Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). Some specialized tutoring is also available in academic departments, as well as privately in the Eugene area.

AEC coordinates the application for the Hesser Memorial Scholarship, the Minner-Kelsch Scholarship, and the Pincetich Memorial Scholarship. As AEC receives new scholarship information, announcements are posted on our website. A resource book, Financial Aid for the Disabled and Their Families, can be checked out and lists many scholarships and describes how to apply for specific scholarships, grants, etc. and. Additional resources for financial aid information include the Career Center, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Financial Aid Information web page . These web sites contain the latest information on scholarships, fellowships, grants and much more. They also provide information specifically for students with disabilities.

If I attend an initial meeting with The Accessible Education Center, does this mean that I must use the services?

No. Our office encourages students to use whatever available resources are necessary to succeed in college. However, you are encouraged to meet with AEC at the beginning of your college career. It will allow you to learn what AEC offers. Registering with the office and providing documentation will make it much quicker and easier to access services if you later decide to utilize accommodations.

What if I can't attend the University of Oregon as a full-time student?

If a partial course load is necessary due to specific disability related limitations The Accessible Education Center can assist you. When appropriate, support letters can be provided from AEC for University Housing, childcare services, scholarships, etc., stating that it is reasonable to consider full-time equivalency for eligibility requirements.

What if I need accommodations in housing or financial aid?

For many types of requests you can contact Housing directly. A statement outlining specific neeAEC from your doctor may be required. In many cases you will want to register with AEC and provide detailed documentation so we can assist with supporting your request and making recommendations to Housing, as needed. The Accessible Education Center is also available to assist in this process if you are uncomfortable directly disclosing information regarding why you are requesting accommodations.

AEC is available to work with students who are dealing with unique circumstances around financial aid eligibility. Sometimes Financial Aid will ask you to provide a letter to verify that you are registered with AEC, or to help support a specific financial aid petition request on the basis of disability or a medical condition.

An individual with a disability who uses a service animal is not required to register the animal with university authorities prior to bringing the animal on campus. However, students are strongly encouraged to register with The Accessible Education Center so that the presence of the animal on campus is documented as part of approved accommodation. Only trained service animals, not emotional support pets, are typically allowed in campus buildings. Refer to the Service Animal document for complete guidelines.
